If you’re a competitive athlete or just trying to keep your body moving, our team at Cayuga Medical Center Sports Medicine is here to treat, rehabilitate, and prevent sports-related injuries. Our Sports Medicine team is expertly trained in musculoskeletal and medical sports conditions and they understand what drives athletes. We will help you recover from injury as quickly and safely as possible and get back in the game!

Our services include (but are not limited to) assessment and treatment of:

  • Acute injuries (strains, sprains, joint pain)
  • Overuse injuries (tendonitis, stress fractures)
  • Back pain in young athletes
  • Shortness of breath and fatigue with exercise
  • Athletic skin disorders
  • Athletes with illness (mononucleosis, asthma, and diabetes)
  • Sports Concussion (treatment and management)
  • Osteoarthritis in our multidisciplinary clinic

As a competitive swimmer who is in the pool for 15 hours each week, Elise Nishii-Kim is used to pushing her body. But, during an intense practice in the summer of 2016, with her heart pounding 180 beats a minute, she suddenly had trouble breathing.
