Collaborations

Cayuga Medical Center has teamed up with the University of Rochester Medical Center and specifically URMC Orthopaedics and Rehabilitation, one of the largest, most comprehensive orthopaedic practices in the region. With nearly forty board-certified or board-qualified doctors, URMC offers every subspecialty in the field of orthopaedics and sees more than 180,000 patients per year.

The URMC physicians conduct research and develop and use the latest methods to treat orthopaedic conditions in adults and children. The department provides national leadership in orthopaedics and continues to be one of the top NIH (National Institutes of Health) funded programs in the country.

Cayuga Medical Center’s seven board-certified orthopaedic surgeons all have subspecialty training. The purpose of working collaboratively with URMC is to provide our community with easy access to a broader range of orthopaedic services. Through this collaboration our orthopaedic surgeons have the ability to consult with, or refer to, URMC doctors with different areas of expertise. The goal is to ensure that every patient receives the highest quality of orthopaedic care possible.

We collaborate with Ithaca College faculty for our residency and fellowship programs. Many of our therapists teach, on some level, at the college sharing their expertise with the next generation of therapists.

This relationship benefits therapy staff, faculty, students, continuing education participants, and patients by enhancing knowledge of current best practices.
