Henry D. Gerson, MD, is Appointed Medical Director for Cayuga Medical Center’s Department of Psychiatry
September 27, 2010- Ithaca, New York- Henry Gerson, MD,
has been appointed the Medical Director of Cayuga Medical Center’s Department
of Psychiatry. Dr. Gerson has been a psychiatrist at CMC since 2007.
Dr.
Gerson graduated Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree from Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. He then completed his Pre-med studies at Columbia University, and went on to earn his medical doctorate from New York University School
of Medicine in New York, New York. From 2002-2006, he completed his internship
and residency training in Psychiatry at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers in
Manhattan. Dr. Gerson then went on to become an attending psychiatrist in the
Division of Ambulatory and Community Psychiatry at the Bellevue Hospital Center in New York City. Dr. Gerson is board certified in psychiatry and neurology.
Dr.
Gerson has earned numerous honors including the C. Harold Taylor, MD, Award for
Excellence in Psychiatry at St. Vincent in 2006 and a listing in the Consumers’
Research Council Guide to America’s Top Psychiatrists. He is also actively
involved in committee and leadership. From 2003-2005, he was the president of
the House Staff Council and was on the Graduate Medical Education Committee at
St. Vincent’s Manhattan. Currently, he is the Chairman of the Department of
Psychiatry of CMC, a member of the Physician Performance Improvement,
Credentials and Care Management Committees of CMC and the Compos Mentis Board
of Ithaca.

Dr.
Gerson is fluent in Spanish, and his special interests are stress management,
exercise and psychiatry.
