Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Receives APTA Credentialing

2010 – Ithaca, New
York- The Physical Therapy department at CMC is now a part of the first APTA
Credentialed Orthopedic Clinical Residency Program in New York State. The Physical Therapy department at Cayuga Medical Center is known as the region’s leader
in physical therapy and sports medicine. A credentialed residency is now offered
at Island Health Center for licensed physical therapists interested in
advancing their orthopedic training.
The Island Health Center in Ithaca, New York is recognized for its state-of-the-art facilities, providing
the best resources available to patients and doctors. As a part of Cayuga Medical Center, The Island Health Center provides a teaching faculty consisting of physical
therapists with advanced training. The residency program is offered in
collaboration with Ithaca College, which is listed as one of the top schools
for physical therapy in the country. With the Credentialed Residency Program,
doctors can continue to learn and practice physical therapy and specialized
advanced patient care in the Physical Therapy department of The Island Health
Center.
The
Credentialed Orthopedic Clinical Residency Program comes after a long period of
program development, mentoring and an application process. Cayuga Medical Center would like to thank Residency Director Michael Costello for his
dedication to the application process. Dr. Costello, along with fellow director
John Winslow, are both professors for the Physical Therapy program at Ithaca College.
