CMC Physical Therapy Program is recognized as
the region’s leader in physical therapy and sports medicine.
First in
New York State to be Credentialed by the American Physical Therapy Association
The
Orthopedic Physical Therapy Residency Program at Cayuga Medical Center has become the first clinical residency for orthopedic physical therapists to be
credentialed by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) in New York State. The Physical Therapy Department at Cayuga Medical Center is recognized as the
region’s leader in physical therapy and sports medicine. The Orthopedic
Physical Therapy Residency Program was developed in collaboration with Physical
Therapy Department at Ithaca College. The residency program is one of only 34
APTA-credentialed orthopedic residencies in the United States.
The 12-month
residency program consists of 15 didactic courses, clinical mentorship,
physician observation, and participation in clinical research. Residents are
involved in teaching at Ithaca College and serve as clinical instructors for
physical therapy students interning at Cayuga Medical Center. The goals of the
program are to prepare residents to become specialists with advanced training,
contribute to the profession through scholarly activity and, to become a
mentor/teacher to students and other professionals.
Cayuga
