Cayuga
Medical Center announced today the opening of the Cayuga Heart Institute. The
new center offers comprehensive cardiac services in one location, making it
more convenient for patients. Cayuga Medical Center will be hosting an
official opening to the cardiac center on March 10th at 5 PM on the
3rd floor above the lobby.
Cayuga Medical Center’s new addition makes
it a leading cardiac center in Central New York. Cayuga’s new facility
includes a 24-hour cardiologist, a bigger staff, and more innovative
equipment. “With our new waiting room, better equipment, and more services
offered, the hospital can now better treat individual patients,” said Sandra
Fuller, director of cardiac services at Cayuga Medical Center.
Cayuga Medical Center is one of ten
hospitals in New York State to achieve such accreditation. Cayuga Medical Center was certified by the Society of Chest Pain Centers in 2009 to be an
accredited chest pain center. The hospital uses the chest pain center to
define the protocol and steps for patient care. All patients at Cayuga Medical Center have access to the chest pain center.
Patients at Cayuga Medical Center with severe cardiac conditions are forwarded to the Rochester Heart
Institute (RHI), one of the most highly-rated and busiest cardiac centers in
the country. RHI cardiologists provide direct consultation and complex cardiac
surgery. RHI staff provides Cayuga Medical Center with direct consultation,
quality review, and protocols.
The Cayuga Center for Healthy Living (CCHL) is a department at Cayuga Medical Center that offers
advice to patients about heart-healthy lifestyle alternatives. Patients as
well as walk-in appointments are encouraged to visit CCHL in an effort to
promote awareness of healthy lifestyles.
