Cayuga Medical Center Welcomes Two New Doctors to the Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine Program at Island Health Center

 

Mark F. Jackson, DPT, and Karl Bergmann, ScD, join Cayuga Medical Center’s experienced team of Physical Therapists and Athletic Training Specialists

Mark Jackson, DPT August 5, 2008 (Ithaca, NY) – Cayuga Medical Center welcomes two doctors of physical therapy; Mark F. Jackson, Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT), specializing in vestibular (inner ear) disorder rehabilitation, and Karl Bergmann, Doctor of Science (ScD) in orthopedic and manual therapy, to the Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine program at Island Health Center. The Cayuga Medical Center Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine program for years has been the largest in the region with 18 certified physical therapists on staff.

Jackson earned his doctorate, Summa Cum Laude, from Upstate Medical University, Syracuse, NY. He has nearly ten years experience and training in physical therapy and is a clinical instructor. Jackson brings a new expertise to the community. His advanced training in vestibular rehabilitation includes patient assessments and treatment of patients’ with the imbalance and dizziness disorder.

Karl Bergmann, ScD Bergmann earned his degree from Northeastern University and Texas Tech University. Before coming to Cayuga Medical Center, Bergmann was a Captain and Director of Physical Therapy for the United States Air Force at Sheppard AFB, Texas. Bergmann’s certifications include: certified strength and conditioning specialist Board Certified Orthopedic Specialist, Certified Orthopedic Manual Therapist, and Doctor of Science (ScD) in Orthopedic and Manual Therapy.

John Winslow, director of CMC’s Physical Therapy and Sports Medicine program, noted: “We help people who are recovering from injury and illness with the most experienced and diverse team of physical therapists and athletic trainers in the region. Jackson and Bergmann further enhance the care now available to our community.”

All Cayuga Medical Center physical therapists are experienced and qualified professionals with clinical specialization and board certification. Their specialty areas include: spine rehabilitation, sports physical therapy, hand therapy, manual therapy, aquatic therapy, orthopedics, woman’s health, neurological, and vestibular disorder rehabilitation.
