Spine Fellowship Program
Cayuga Medical Center's Physical Therapy Spine Fellowship Program is accredited by the Amercian Physical Therapy Association as a post-professional Spine Fellowship Program for physical therapists seeking advanced training and expertise. Though achievement of candidate status signifies satisfactory progress toward accreditation, it does not assure that the program will be accredited.
The region's leader in physical therapy and sports medicine is developing a unique Spine Fellowship
for licensed physical therapists who demonstrate clinical expertise in orthopaedic physical therapy.
Fellows frequently are post-residency prepared or board-certified specialists. This program is offered in
collaboration with Ithaca College, one of the nation's top schools for physical therapy.
The fellowship program is based in our Island Health Center office, on the water's edge at the southern end of Cayuga Lake. This is the heart of the Finger Lakes and home to Ithaca College and Cornell University.
Our teaching faculty includes physical therapists with advanced training and manual therapy
certification. Several fellowship faculty teach in the physical therapy program at Ithaca College.
Board certified physician specialists in orthopedic surgery, sports medicine, hand injuries, neurosurgery,
radiology, and pain management provide clinical instruction in their areas of specialty.
We offer a planned program of post-professional clinical and didactic education, designed to
significantly advance patient care services in the area of manual therapy. The program provides ongoing
mentoring and clinical supervision by experienced, highly qualified clinicians.
